Charleston, SC (May 16, 2007)-The Executive Director for the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry (CML), Georgina Ngozi, has been appointed to the Association of Children's Museums (ACM) Board of Directors. She will serve on the Diversity, Education and Development Committees. Her appointment was announced this week at the annual ACM Conference in Chicago.
"My goal in serving on the ACM board is to serve the Children's Museum industry as a whole and to utilize the resources held by ACM to advance the goals of the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry. I look forward to learning from as well as collaborating with other leaders in the industry to help establish CML as a Children's Museum leader in our region" said Ngozi.
In addition to her Board appointment, Ngozi served on several panels during the ACM Conference, themed InterActivity: "Embracing Diversity in Your Town Square". As Chair of the InterActivity 2007 Program Committee, she delivered the conference welcome address, spoke at the new attendee orientation and served as a panelist for "Institutionalizing Through Active Leadership", a session which focused on how to creatively take risks, think untraditionally and challenge your staff.
She presented a performance collaboration focused on diversity, which she helped develop while serving as the Director of Education at the Brooklyn Children's Museum in 2006.
Alongside other Children's Museum leaders from the Chicago Children's Museum, DuPage Children's Museum and the KohlMuseum, Ngozi also served as a panelist at the American Association of Museums conference, also in Chicago. She offered her expertise for a discussion on the successes and challenges in sustaining diversity in Children's Museums and museums of other genres.
