For Immediate Release, April 2008

A special event lunch is planned for Administrative Professionals’ Day at High Cotton, Maverick Bar & Grill on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to Communities In Schools of the Charleston Area, Inc. (CIS), a non-profit organization that champions youth to stay in school by connecting community resources with the needs of students, their families and schools. A three-course menu designed by Chef Anthony Gray is offered for $25 per person, excluding gratuity.
The annual event is held on Administrative Professionals’ Day to encourage business leaders to pay tribute to their support staff, while also supporting the mission of Communities In Schools. “This is fourth year of our collaboration with CIS, and it is such an enjoyable way to provide a significant donation which positively impacts so many students in our public school system”, says High Cotton general manager Jill Maynard. Communities In Schools serves approximately 3,400 students and their families in thirteen public schools in Charleston and Berkeley Counties.
“By opening for lunch on a day we are normally closed, and encouraging business managers to bring their Administrative Professionals to lunch, a spirit of fellowship is created among the diners who feel proud of their donation while relaxing and enjoying a great meal with co-workers. It resonates good will on many levels for everyone involved” says David Marconi, vice president of operations for Maverick Southern Kitchens, which also owns Slightly North of Broad, Old Village Post House, Charleston Cooks, and High Cotton, Greenville.
Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Reservations can be made online through High Cotton’s web site or by calling 843-724-3815. The menu (below) provides choices for first course, entrée and dessert, and includes iced tea and coffee. High Cotton is located in historic downtown Charleston at 199 East Bay Street.
