For Immediate Release, August 2008
http://www.CharlestonIFF.com

The 2nd Annual Charleston International Film Festival will Host Film Premieres, Parties and Panels

The Charleston International Film Festival is a non-profit organization created to bring audiences together through the art and science of film to entertain, educate and inspire. The second annual film festival screenings will take place from April 23-26, 2009 at The Terrace Theater (1956-D Maybank Highway) in Charleston, South Carolina. Special events and nightly after-parties will take place at various other locations throughout the Charleston area.

CIFF was co-founded in 2007 by film producer Summer Spooner and Charleston native Brian Peacher. Spooner says, “Charleston is a leader in the southern U.S. for the arts and has great events throughout the year. Showcasing the films of local and international filmmakers adds another very unique facet to that culture.”

The first annual CIFF showcased over 40 features, shorts, documentaries, and animations to sold-out audiences and enthusiastic reviews. There was also a screenplay competition. For the upcoming second annual event, Peacher says, “We’re really excited about 2009 and the evolution of the festival. It gives people the opportunity to see sneak previews of some amazing films in an environment where industry professionals can also collaborate or talk new projects.”

For four days, the CIFF hosts red carpet premieres, networking events, workshops, after-parties, and culminates with the black-tie Gala Awards Ceremony. There will be awards given for all categories: Golden Crescent Award (best film in all categories); Jury Awards for Best Feature, Best Documentary and Best Short Film; Audience Choice Awards for Best Feature, Best Documentary and Best Short Film; Best Animation; Golden Crescent Screenplay Competition Winner and awards for both Best Actress and Best Actor. ETV also presents the Southern Lens Award.
